# Which notes system to use, that is the question I've been dealing with lately. In the past I've been using notes in different places, but mostly the need was to be able to access them on computer(s) and on phone(s). So online version seemed the best. Then there was the issue about privacy. So own online cloud was better. Then the risk of security. Turned out that's not a big risk if nobody knows where you keep your notes, and probably no really incentive for hackers to find my recipes notes and other notes mostly important just for me. Long story shorter. Tried apps like SimpleNote, Apple Notes, Standard Notes, Obsidian, Joplin. Nice that all those have cross platform, cross phones apps, but somehow there was always something I didn't like. Story too long. I stop. What I'm using now is text files in folders with md extension. Since it's markdown, notes can include pictures and links and can be linked manually to each other. Syncing or remotely accessing these notes with protocols like sftp is easy and convenient. ( *.md = simple living compatible :-)
