# Longlasting possessions The items that are lasting more than 5 years old I consider longlasting. Looking at the things around I can say very few items fullfil this criteria: ## Lasting more than 10 years - house/apartment - car - bicycle - some mechanical tools like a hammer ## Lasting more than 5 years, but often less than 10 - backpacks - tent - sleeping matt - sleeping bag - hiking poles (ski/hike) - office desk - office chair - night table - bed Everything else are consumable so all the clothes, shoes, food items, hygiene items. As far as materials go: - Bricks, cement, stone, metal, wood = makes long lasting items/possessions - Plastic, cotton, other fabrics, other oil derivatives = makes consumable, cheap, short lived items. I would only try to focus on having long lasting items, but life shows you need some consumables too.
