# How many apps you really need for basic simple life needs ## on the phone - calling app - texting app - browser app * - bank app - email app - text notes app - camera/calendar/alarm app (usually included in the phone OS) - maps app * Everything below browser are not really needed, maybe banking. Browser app can replace many functional apps if they exist as online services (web apps). ## on the computer - storage management app (own OS's file explorer/terminal) - server apps (not for everybody) such as webserver, file server, media server ** - browser app - office apps such as spreadsheet - local music player app ** the use of these services are obvious, but not for everybody due to some configuration complexity. The lists above seem biased towards a geeky user, but they makes sense to me, for a simplified digital life free from corporations. I should mention that each app can (and it should) be open source, baking is an excused exception.
