# How to safely clean earwax from your ears ? It is common knowledge that you shouldn't remove the earwax buildup in your ears as some people tent to do. Even if you will eventually have to cleanup the ears it should not be done with a q-tip, bobby pin or other sharp objects. Ear wax cleanup should be done outside of the ear with regular soap an water. This is so the natural flow of wax can do it's course and come out by itself, cleaning any dust gathered there. There are a few times when inside of ear should be cleaned: - when there is pain around the ear - when there is too much wax that is not aesthetically pleasing - when you feel there is a blockage (feeling of stuck object) - when hearing is diminished Doctor should be consulted to make sure there is no severe infection. If you chose to perform the earwax cleanup yourself, these are the 3 methods that can do it: 1. Baking soda - pour half teaspoon baking soda into 2 ounces of warm water and drip them into your ear(s), keeping the ear with the opening upwards and wait at least 1 minute 2. Hydrogen peroxide - drip a few drops of it into the ear(s) keeping the ear with the opening upwards and wait at least 1 minute 3. Olive oil - pour a few drops (warm is better) of olive oil into the ear(s) keeping the ear with the opening upwards and wait at least 1 minute. Other oils that works: baby oil, coconut oil, mineral oil If you use Method 1 or 2, dry your ear after cleaning so moisture is removed and bacteria will not grow. Repeat for a few days if needed.
