# Top reasons why I like MacOS and cons - It has bash shell (well, even improved) so native bash script can be used - It was build from an old version of FreeBSD (Darwin) - It looks the same on every Mac (easy to use other people's machine) - It looks polished and aesthetically pleasing (efforts were consistently made towards simplicity) - Debatable: maybe the easiest GUI to learn (especially if you have an Iphone) - Supported with almost all drivers for different devices - Mainstream apps work very well (Including MS Office for people who care) - The OS is pretty efficiently designed to use the hardware with less energy needed - Good built-in power saving features - some specific features that are not found in other OS-es: shared clipboard with other (Apple) devices, shared messages, notes, etc. - It is free, as in "Only pay for the expensive Apple computers that can run on..." - It has some useful built in apps, free (limited) cloud storage, free (limited) email service and app # The cons - It's not open source - It's not very compatible with older versions - It nags you (by default) to update to newer versions - Kind of requires you to keep buying new hardware often to get the latest compatible versions - Has only one GUI appearance for everyone, like it or not. (well, also has dark mode :-) - It looks simplified, which is good, but it sometimes feels that some customization is missing - often feels "one option only" - It requires you to identify yourself with the Apple account - It sends data to Apple like which apps you open, when, your IP address/location for advertisement and fraud "prevention" - Apple can remotely prevent apps from running on your device I don't like MacOS (at all) for its cons, I like the technical performances and achievements smart people working there realized by building the good side of it.
