# Top reasons why I like Linux based OSes(and some cons) - It's open source "as in free speech" - Does not spy on you - Does not have advertisement code built in - It's customizable - It can be minimal enough, or fully loaded with apps and tools - Almost all area of productivity and entertainment are covered - Hardware drivers are built in the kernel (mostly, and mostly work) - It's also free of charge (except some specific distributions) - It can be stable and does not enforce update on you - It's not for everybody, but could be made for anybody's needs - Works well on old hardware - Current world (Internet and digital spaces) wouldn't exist without it - Generally, you have the freedom to choose and are not forced by a company to "like" their style and methods - Many graphical interfaces to choose from - Many distributions to choose from I'm sure there are more reasons I like Linux for, but here are some cons: - Many distributions to choose from (yes, that could be confusing because there is no easy way to find which distribution is suitable for who) - No incentive for critical businesses (such as banks) to develop and support (open source) apps for it I can live with any other inconveniences.
